When mounting a kitchen sink, it is very important to consider the air gap. This is a plumbing element that one needs to consider so that there will be no clogs when installing the kitchen sink. If the plumber just installs the sink anywhere, there is a tendency that the water or even wastes will go back to the sink and this calls for "911" to many homeowners.
Here are a few tips to prevent the back flow when installing kitchen sinks in your home.

Look for a hole to install the air gap at the back part of the sink. If you can see a small-sized hole, then an air gap is available. If you can't look for one, then you should mount the air gap manually or with the help of the plumber.

Buy an air gap item in the store. Make sure that you know the measurement of the sink tubing so that the air gap unit you bought will fit.

Install the air gap and tightly lock it with the screw provided. Make sure that it is not loosely locked because it can create leaking problems in the future.

Wrap the length from the air gap distance to the dishwasher of the kitchen sink. Again, make sure that you are able to cover both ends tightly.

There are 2 nipples; large and small one that covers the hope so you need to screw it tightly so that it will meet both ends with the air gap.
