Is the US military merely a tool for American capitalism?

The Corporations need resources to produce their products, resources which they acquire by use of the military. Without the military they would not be able to offer the products to the consumers, which makes the military the most important part of the process.
I am not criticizing capitalism, I am merely attacking the military for portraying themselves as the guardians of liberty and our rights. We both know this not to be true. They fight for far less noble causes like economic reason and so what if the people in the army receive "benefits", that still does not change what they are-- tools.
What major wars were for economical gain? The Revolution was because of taxation yes, but also repression by the British Monarchy. The War of 1812 was a defensive action when England invaded. The Mexican War was in response to Mexican aggression. World War 1 was aiding allies in a global struggle. World War II was aiding those same allies, and stopping Hitler. We were in Vietnam as advisers originally, but the South Vietnamese couldn't defeat the NVA/VC without us. Iraq brought about the fall of Saddam Hussein. Afghanistan is about driving the Taliban out of the country. And since you include it in your other questions, Libya is about taking down a "Saddam" like dictator. But I guess killing innocent people is ok with you. Lets see where the US would be with no military. We could still be a British colony, or a Mexican one, or a German one (twice possibly), there would be an overwhelming Communist presence, even more so than there is already. No retaliation for the towers being destroyed. Hell, lets just agree we would still all be British, then taken over numerous times by whoever. North America would be a battle ground, no unity as a country because we let everyone else come in and take over. You probably wouldn't be born. And then I wouldn't have to type anymore.
