How many VA do I need to operate a 1/2 hp, 115 V , 60 Hz, 7.6 AMP motor?
That motor will draw 120V. * 7.6A, or 912VA at full load.
('115V. is nominal, not actual V., while 7.6 A. is probably actual draw.)
To start it though, especially under load, be prepared for a
short term peak draw of 2000 VA or so.
