Chicken Tractor Essentials for Backyard Poultry Farmers / Enthusiasts
Chicken tractors are good economical addition to any backyard poultry farmer or enthusiasts as they are easy to make, and are useful besides just keeping chicken safe. A Chicken tractor is basically a small movable cage designed to be moved from place to place in a backyard while keeping the chicken under control. All that is required to construct one is some lumber and chicken wire which are easily available everywhere (maybe already in your backyard). Most poultry farmers prefer Chicken tractors to the bigger chicken coop.
Advantages of having a Chicken Tractor:
A chicken tractor has many benefits to offer. Since chicken are so efficient at scratching and moving soil they can effectively remove all weed from your garden. Also they will positively eliminate any pests that they might come across. The main advantage of having a chicken tractor is that you can move it around your garden which means that you can control your birds and constrain them to “work” in just one place. Not only do you to get to have pest and weed control but also the nitrogen rich fertilizer from their droppings. Aside from these a chicken tractor can provide some good cover to your birds from predators that might be roaming around your place. Since these are constructed with only some wood and chicken wire, you will not have to worry about air and sunshine which is very critical to chicken.
Constructing the “Tractor”:
A Chicken tractor is probably the most easy to construct of all the types of Chicken Coops; all you need is some chicken wire and lumber. But what you need to be careful about is that you must provide at least 4 square feet of space to the chicken inside the tractor. This ensures that they will have plenty of space to roam and flap about. A chicken tractor is typically in the shape of an “A” when looked at from the front. This is why it is also known as a Chicken or a hen ark. Your tractor need not be any more than 3 or 4 feet long while being around 3 feet high. This is typically suited for 3 or 4 birds max! If you have more birds then go ahead and add more space to your tractor.
A few things to keep in mind:
Always keep your feeders and waterers filled up for the chicken. Also keep in mind that you need to keep moving the tractor around your backyard so that you may have the desired result. After having observed a bit you will get to understand just how quickly your birds tend to operate so that you may determine the frequency of moving the tractor to new places. Do remember that chicken take “sand-baths” which means that if left on a spot for too long they will probably scratch away quite a lot of the top layer.

Can any electricians help me with this problem?
My bathroom outlet will not tolerate a blow dryer, so the other day I opened up the breaker panel and discovered that the single pull breaker has two wires in it. Obviously this must be why any load trips the breaker. The breaker also controls the master bedroom, another bath, and a kitchen light. Well, last night, everything in the bedroom and one bath shut down. The other bath and kitchen were ok. No breakers were tripped and I didn't see any arcing or burns. No, I have not taken the breaker itself out yet but that is my next move. And for no apparent reason, the power came back on to those rooms and has been on since.I'm baffled. Any ideas?
It sounds like the breaker is overloaded. The circuit anyway. The blow dryer pulls a lot of amps. That's probably why it trips. Most bathroom outlets, especially near the sink, would be GFCI, or ground fault circuit interrupter, which is basically to keep you from electrocuting yourself by putting the blow dryer into a sink full of water. The GFCI circuits are usually quite sensitive. You need that protection. Does the breaker in the panel have two wires, one black (or red) and then a curly white one? A GFCI breaker in the panel would have the curly white one which is actually a neutral wire. without being ther to look at it, it would be hard to say for sure. If it isn't GFCI and there are indeed two black (or hot) wires connected into one single pole breaker, then you ought to install another breaker and separate the two. Go with a 20 amp for each, preferably with GFCI protection on both. If you do have GFCI receptacles in each bath, then I suppose regular breakers would work. I personally would not want two hot wires connected to one breaker.
