The piece that looks like a v (spring clip) is what I'm having a problem with. If I have it on the outside of the cap, the stopper doesn't pop up and down like it should and water leaks. However, if I have it behind the lever ball (white ball) inside of the cap, the stopped pops up and down. Unfortunately I can't get it to screw on straight so it's not going on.
My question is, is the spring clip supposed to be on the inside of the cap behind the lever ball or on the outside?
(I don't believe in professionals doing something so simple...I like doing things myself, and calling a plumber for a clog is just silly.)
