The present invention relates to plaques for mounting on homes and other buildings to identify at least in part the address of the buildings. In particular the invention is appropriate for the making of brass numbers and letters for identifyingsuch buildings.
In recent years, the popularity of brass household accessories such as brass wall plates, brass kickboards, brass lighting fixtures, brass mailboxes and brass letters and numbers has greatly increased. Most of these products are made from brassplate which can be stamped and cut easily. Producing these products from brass plate is quite economical and problems with respect to porousity of the metal and surface of the metal are more easily controlled with respect to brass plate as opposed to brass castings. However, with respect to indicia and in particular numbers and letters these can be manufactured more economically by foundaries, primarily due to the large amount of waste or scrap material that results if these same indicia werestamped from plate. Problems with respect to colour and porousity remain, however, the cost advantage of manufacturing by casting remained critical and therefore these products continue to be produced by casting techniques.
Brass numbers or letters used to at least partially identify the address of a building or individual home, also serve a decorative purpose and therefore the brass finishes have proven popular. In particular, polished brass surfaces are nowcommonly used even though these numbers or letters are not easily recognizable as dusk approaches unless additional lighting is provided in close proximity to the indicia. Therefore it would be desirable to produce a brass type indicia which wouldprovide the rich decorative effect sought by the purchasers of the product, while providing a product where the indicia was more readily recognizable with poor lighting conditions.

how do you remove center of moen pop up drain so that i can pour drain cleaner without ruining tub finish?
want to remove center portion so i can get a funnel down the throat and by doing it keeping solution off of brass/bronze finish and new tub liner.
There are at least 3 drain types I know of. A trip lever. A twist and turn and a tip toe. The last 2 simply unscrew. The trip lever will have 2 screws and a lever . The top part of the drain. Regardless of the type. You can take it loose at the top. You can funnel it down from there. Or you may want to go to a Home Improvement store. They sale a thing that looks like a black hot dog. You can work it in there. It works with your water hose. Be careful if you take the screws out of the top. IF it was not installed properly. It may spring back. Then you cannot get the screws to reach w/out going under the house and pushing it back toward the tub when you go to install it back. If you are on a slab or it is upstairs. Then you get into cutting sheetrock. But Most times if you do take it loose at the pop up. the problem is there. You can also rake it out w/ a coathanger. You can also buy a small long thing with bristles on it at a H.I. Store and other things that will hook onto a small drill. If you do pour drain cleaner down. You can put vaseline on any exposed metal.
