how do i remove a slip fit from my tub spout?
i tried to remove the screw with an allen wrench only there was no screw or it was stripped so i couldn't get anything in there. the whole assembly spins on the copper pipe, but i'm afraid it's grinding the pipe. i've been trying to cut away the slip fit with a dremel cutting tip but the brass slip fit seems too thick. any other suggestions or should i just continue with the dremel?
Keep cutting away and it will come off. Make sure you have enough plumbing there to modify what you are replacing. You don't want to exert excessive pulling force on the pipe because this could cause a water leak and major plumbing expenses. You can try drilling the screw hole out and it should pull off. You are going to replace the spout anyhow.
