ok well i need to buy a new soldering iron i have the weller bp645 cordless iron but it is trash it doesn't get hot enough to solder unless the batteries are brand new, i was thinking about getting

Lead based solder melts a a lower temp that lead free solder. Your PSP was probably built using lead free (Rohs compliant) solder. You probably need an iron that can reach 800 degrees. Using a lot of flux is often the trick to getting good solder joints.
