Use US electronics in South America w/convertor?
I bought a hair cutter on Wall-Mart and when I brought it to Europe it experienced an electrical outage as soon as I put it into the power input. I used a cheap convertor that was unstable.
In a few days I will go to South America (Peru and Argentina) and I would like to bring a router and a new hair cutter. Do you think the same will happen there, or would a better transformer prevent it? Any tips to such transformer on ebay?
Peru and Argentina use 220V compared to 110V in the US so you'll have to buy a regular 220 to 110 volt transformer for the hair cutter and one for the router. They shouldn't be too expensive since the power rating for both devices is very low (usually 15W for the hair cutter and 3W for the router).
Buy them in Sears or a similar store if you can since they are not that expensive (around $10-15) and buying it in eBay would almost be the same after paying for shipping. If you feel like spending a little more money go to the Radioshack.
You can also buy step-down transformers in Peru or Argentina (they can be found for around $5-10 in hardware stores).
