The Basics of How Driveway Security Alarms Work
Securing your home can be one of the most expensive and time consuming endeavors you will undertake if you let it get out of control. Every company has hundreds of solutions that will meet your needs, and they will try to sell you them all under the guise that the more security systems you have in place the better your protection will be. The truth is this will just provide you with a great deal of hassle and lull you into a false sense of security. With all of the different devices available you need an easy way to sort through them to find the one that is right for you. Below you will find a list of the basic types of driveway security alarms and how they work:
Wired Sensors – This category covers half of the devices available on the market. You can buy any of the subsets of sensors as a wired sensor, which you should do if you will need to be running a long distance or through a material that will dampen wireless signals. These are often slightly more expensive than their wireless counterparts, but they are much more reliable.
Wireless Sensors – The other half of devices fall under this category. They are usually less expensive to install and maintain, but they can be unreliable when their signals are interfered with by inclement weather. They are more versatile than their wired counterparts because you can move them if the need arises.
Motion Sensors – The basic security device, motion sensors use laser or infrared beam to detect movement. When something breaks the beam their transmitter sends a single to a remote receiver, which emits an alarm sound so that people know that they have been triggered. These devices make a great catch all as they are capable of detecting car, people and animal movements. The problem is that they cannot differentiate between the different types which can lead to a lot of false alarms.
Magnetic Sensors – Magnetic sensors are driveway security alarms that detect the movement of large quantities of metal. They are specifically designed to monitor cars, and are incapable of detecting people or animals unless they are covered in metal. This makes them the ideal solution for people who are trying to monitor when someone is pulling up their long drive, or when a customer is entering a location. With this information you should be able to choose the security system that fits your needs the best. Remember, however, that any security system is only effective as the people who are using. If you think that having a system in place will protect you from burglars, vandals, and murderers then buying one will only open you up to greater exposure to the threat of becoming a victim of one of these criminals.

Which Wireless Provider Should I trust AT&T or Alltel?
AT&T buy out Alltel in South Dakota and I was wondering if I could get the same unlimited data plan that I have with AT&T or not? I've talked with both AT&T and Alltel with both of them saying oppsite things. Alltel said I would be "grandfathered" into AT&T with my existing account so I could keep my unlimited data on a smartphone, but when I called AT&T about this they said that existing customers would be migrated into AT&T and would have to choose one of their data capped plans. I'm just figure out who is right and if I have to switch carriers when AT&T comes because they won't let keep my unlimited data plan.
