i have a fish pond with hundreds of 'mollies' and 'platys'and there is room for more as the pond is quite large.but the water has turned so green and dirty that this water when poured to garden plants,they wilt off & die......also all the duckweeds in the pond died off.i have lots of lotus plants in the pond which r quite healthy

Is this a natural or man made fish pond.?
If it's man made I can tell you how to fixed it so the water will be crystal clear and you can actually see the bottom. If the water looks like split pea soup it's called split pea algae.
You need to run an appropriate UV light to kill the algae and keep it from returning and have a filter system in it.
My pond is 2000 gallons I run 24 UV units thru a skimmer and on to a biological filter and the back intom the pond. I have 2 aerators which supply extra oxygen and Algae doesn't like that. I also use Pondzyme Plus to break down sludge.
You need to determine how big the pond is and the easiest way to figure it is
length X Width X depth X750 = will give you approximately how many gallons.
The reason for doing all of this is to give the fish pleanty of oxygen. and remove the algae. I have goldfish and koi in mine and koi need LOTS of oxygen
