Ashiatsu Bars
Making Ashiatsu bars is not the easiest thing to do. If you are interested in learning Ashiatsu bar installation this is the place! I have made seven sets of Ashiatsu bars so far. I thought, "If a person could watch a YouTube video on the subject then I'm sure they could get a general idea on exactly how to make great Ashiatsu massage bars."
Please read the following article but more importantly... Click on the blue links above and then you will get to watch an awesome video on Ashiatsu bar installation. After you've built the Ashiatsu bars then you will be ready to learn how to do some barefoot massage.

When you learn how to use your feet and the strength of your legs to do massage then you have "stepped up" to a new and incredible level of massage therapy. Using the weight of you own body to do massage is only logical! I ask you, "What is wrong with using gravity to help you to do massage therapy?" Massage is tough work as it is! (Rubbing shoulders)
Making Ashiatsu bars involves a bit of handyman experience and some education too. Ashiatsu bars can be made with 1 1/4 inch closet rod material from the hardware store. Mount the Ashiatsu massage bars under beams that are connected to studs at an appropriate height in your massage space above your table. (Watch the video) ~ While standing on your massage table and holding your ashiatsu bars your arms should be at 90 degrees for good leverage.~ Ashiatsu bars built directly into the walls of your room are far superior to using portable bars. (Portable Ashiatsu bars are great for portable use only.) Use spacer blocks in between your beams and bars every 3-5 feet. (See the video)
You may also mount infrared heat lamps onto your beams. Feels great! No, you don't absolutely have to have hard wood Ashiatsu bars. Pine works fine for most therapists. It is great to have an electric table and extra wide table extensions but they are also not required for an Ashiatsu bar setup. Paint your beams and Ashiatsu bars with an all natural sealer from a store like Build It Naturally in Asheville, NC.

Is there another name for a "torsion bar"?
I keep looking on all these different websites that have "parts locators", but "torsion bar" is never in their lists of items and I was just wondering if there is a different search term I could use, like "suspension" or "knuckle"...I don't know what these things are or do so... Help! Please! Also, if you could point me to a place where I can find the specific part I need that would be Excellent Great! I need a driver's side 41 inch torsion bar for a '95 Chevy Astro Van AWD. I do NOT want a 36 inch bar w/ an extension, because I'm afraid if I put that on and still have my original 41 inch on my passenger's side, it will mess something up.
Torsion bars are like springs except they are bars that 'twist'. Stick with an exact replacement (length, thickness, etc). Your local salvage yard should be able to get you one.

Torsion bars - Torsion bars use the twisting properties of a steel bar to provide coil-spring-like performance. This is how they work: One end of a bar is anchored to the vehicle frame. The other end is attached to a wishbone, which acts like a lever that moves perpendicular to the torsion bar. When the wheel hits a bump, vertical motion is transferred to the wishbone and then, through the levering action, to the torsion bar. The torsion bar then twists along its axis to provide the spring force. European carmakers used this system extensively, as did Packard and Chrysler in the United States, through the 1950s and 1960s.
