Tile is the traditional material used for shower and tub walls. But the grout requires lots of maintenance. An alternative is to replace the tile with showers stalls, which essentially is small rooms with walls, made of tile, glass, plastic, or some other waterproof material with either a hanging waterproof curtain or a glass door that slides or swings open.
Prefabricated units, like pre-fab tub units, are usually made from fiberglass-reinforced acrylic or fiberglass and come in a wide assortment of colors and styles. Some come as single-piece units and some require assembly, such as those with three wall panels and a base pan.
Shower stalls offer an astonishing variety of choices at affordable prices. Bathtubs are very simple fixtures designed to contain water and one or two people, which are either built into the bathroom or they are freestanding. A combination tub is merely a joining of a shower stall with a bathtub.

They are usually too large to be installed in a remodeling situation but are often used in new construction. How do I get a fiberglass shower and bathtub clean?
Soap scum, dingy dirty stuff... it's stuck in this tub. It's incredibly exhausting to clean and then it just gets disgusting again. Any ideas on a product that makes it easier to clean, and a way to make it stay cleaner, longer? Any suggestions would be incredibly helpful.
There is a product for fiberglass showers that I use. It's called GEL-GLOSS available at Home Depot by the sinks and tubs. Clean the tub/shower with cheap clarifying shampoo and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Scrub and rinse. Spray with some white vinegar and water. Let that sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse and wipe area dry. Apply GEL-GLOSS ....let dry to a haze...and buff out with an old towel. After that you will just need to clean the area with a damp washcloth after a bath or shower.
