Vinyl floors dont just to put into ordinary houses. Could they be right for Palaces ?
If you have some spare rolls of vinyl floors lying around your factory, don't throw them away, I might have a place for them. Vinyl floors are becoming the ‘in' thing to have not only because of it's versatility and cleanliness but the economics.
Many of the countries most treasured buildings are showing their age and beginning to crumble. Owners, be they private, trusts, or even the Queen, are looking for ways to protect they're possessions. The biggest area of concern is the flooring in these buildings because so many of the public have access to see them. Vinyl floors is the answer to this problem. Now many people would be horrified at the thought of covering her Majesty's state reception room with vinyl floors of wood grain. But things have changed. Due to companies in the printing industry like Printed Space you can now have your vinyl floors covered with any image you want. This has transformed the vinyl floors industry, no longer are architects and designers restricted to mass designs such as wood grain. You could have a view over the Grand Canyon or stepping out onto the Great Barrier Reef what an alternative vinyl floors offers..
In these uncertain financial times everyone is making cut backs and having less disposable money. The royal household is no exception, it will not be long before people will be demanding cutbacks on areas that previously were thought to be untouchable. When you think of the cost of replacing a carpet in Buckingham palace it makes sense to replace them with vinyl floors.
Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms in total. They are used for many purposes such as the 19 state rooms to the 78 bathrooms. In fact Buckingham Palace has opened its very first coffee shop. We are not suggesting every room should be replaced with vinyl floors but most could blend in with the surroundings. Certainly all the public areas, toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, offices could have vinyl floors. The saving with replacing with vinyl floors would probably open a new wing to a hospital or school extension. Surely a better use of public funds rather than making sure a visiting official from outer mongolia has a soft floor to stand on when he goes to the toilet.
So vinyl floors it is then. What we have to decide now is what images do we put on the vinyl floors ? Now I know the cynical among you would have a picture of Lady Diana and Fergie in the queens bedroom (she might put it in her toilet) but when you can have any picture you you can think of on the vinyl floors you can be really imaginative as well as being sympathetic with the surroundings. What about a view overlooking Balmoral Castle, to remind the queen of her other residences? Perhaps an old photograph from above of the Palace or one of the many old engravings of the palace on vinyl floors would suit. You don't just have to have portraits on the wall, you could have a collage of pictures of the queens life from a child or a collage of the kings and queens of the last 1,000 years spread across the vinyl floors.
