How to clean a folding knife?

I have a folding knife, it's a Kershaw 1600K. I lent it to a "friend" and I'm not sure what he did with it, but now it's all gummed up and does not flick open any more.

How can I clean it? Would it be OK and effective to just soak it in rubbing alcohol overnight and then dry it with Q tips?

I know this isn't a hunting question, but I figured you guys would know. Thanks! =0)
The entire knife, including the handle, is all stainless steel

Rubbing alcohol shouldn't hurt anything if you use it, however, I'd go with some sort of a solvent or Goo-Gone. Brake cleaner is good stuff too, but isn't healthy to breathe. Goo-Gone can be found at Wal-Mart, ACE Hardware, and even Dollar Tree stores. This won't be the only time you'd use the stuff either, it gets rid of nasty labels that stores love to put all over your goods that leave residues when trying to remove them. If you do use the alcohol method, you won't need to use Q-Tips to dry it, alcohol will evaporate within minutes. If you would like to disassemble it, use an allen wrench, that appears to be the screws that I see in a picture of this knife. Take those couple screws out, clean all the pieces individually, and reassemble it. Using Goo-Gone, it should only take you 30-45 minutes tops. Hope this helps.
