My shower is warmer when when I hold the shower head upside down... otherwise its always too hot or too cold?
So my flatmates and I have noticed that when we hold our handheld shower head upside down it works way better and is the perfect temperature. As soon as we hang it back up it goes back to being too hot or too cold. It's weird. Is there a way we can fix it so we can get nice warm water all the time without having to spray ourselves in the face? Being able to hang it up so we could have a nice temperature for hair washing would be an awesome bonus! It sounds like your shower head is the problem. If the shower head is operating at a higher flow rate than the mixer valve (mixes hot and cold together) it will create a higher demand on one of the lines to compensate for the lack of flow, hot or cold, which ever valve position is more open. Replace your shower head with an economic low flow unit and it should fix the problem. If it doesn't the issue is with your plumbing or the mixer valve itself.
