How one can install a lock on roller garage doors
Often when people change their roller garage doors it's because the lock has busted, but this needn't be the case. Changing a lock on roller garage doors is rather simple and may be accomplished simply be adhering to these few quick steps.
1.Roller garage doors have to be closed before beginning any work on them. Use vice grips on the garage door tracks to ensure it remains closed for the entire duration.
All roller garage doors have a pin which acts to secure the lock handle to the lock shaft. In order to do this you need to place a nail over the pin and give it a tiny tap. That should reveal a piece of the pin, permitting you to remove it fully with a set of pliers.
2.You can now pull the inside handle off the shaft and as such pull the lock bars off the shaft also. On roller garage doors, the lock bars are 2 straight pieces going from the lock to each side of the door.
Both the lock bars are joined on a plate which then mounts above the lock shaft.
3.Over the shaft is a deadbolt lock, where you'll see four screws. Unscrew these to disconnect the deadbolt.
Next, in order to take away the lock assembly from the door unscrew the two screws that'll be securing it. Then move to the exterior of the roller garage door and grab the lock.
4.Replacing locks in roller garage doors will need you to go ahead and take existing lock into ahome improvement store and choose a matching lock that has the same length in between the 2 mounting holes that will be in your garage door.

6.The last step when swapping the locks on roller garage doors would be to place the brand new interior lock handle back onto the shaft and lining up the hole for that pin to fall back in place. Once again tap the pin employing a nail to fix it into place so that the pin is lined up with the handle.

I have removed the only screw under the handle - can't pull the handle out for inspection. I've also removed the 12 screws on the side locking mechanism plate but how do I dismantle it?
as others have said there will be another screw under a cover cap securing the handle in position.
if the handle isn't loose then the espagnolette lock mechanisms' gearbox is usuall broken.
