Lutron Maestro IR getting very hot?
I've installed couple days ago a Lutron Maestro IR ( http://www.lutron.com/CMS400/page.aspx?id=16947 ) dimmer for my living room and the metal frame of the dimmer is getting very hot.
It's controlling 8x75W lights which is exactly at the 600W limit of the dimmer.
I've tried reversing the power leads but both ways the heat eventually returns after a few minutes.
Ground is connected to the metal in the wall.
Is the heat normal for this device?

Its natural for these switches to get very hot, especially when at their max load settings.
If the lights shut on and off, which can be caused by thermal shutdown this could be an issue.
Replace the bulbs with 60 watt bulbs. This would help the load from being near max.
Plus when you put a light at 90% rather than 100 the human eye cannot tell the difference, plus you save money on lighting and the bulbs last twice as long. So if you replace the bulbs at 80% of the original 75 watt bulbs.
This would be a safe alternative for the hot keypad. All be it not as bright but almost (80% as bright) and since you dim it might be where you were already at.
Also don't use a metal cover plate if that's what your doing, since the plate would also act as a heat sink which would transfer the heat out to the end user.
