What is the average salary for an ASE certified Master Mechanic?
My husband is almost done with his ASE Master Mechanic Certification. His starting Salary at 20 years old was 21 dollars an hour. Now 4 years later and almost done with his Masters, how much better should his income become?
He did go to UTI in Indiana and finish his program in 18 months. However to become a Master you need more education and training.

The going rate depends on a few factors other than ASE master or not. You need to determine the average wage for any given area. Some areas pay great, while others don't pay as well. Usually larger cities pay more than smaller towns. However, the cost of things like homes can offset the increased wage.
As a previous post stated, Factory Master status can get you much more than ASE master status. This is simply because ASE is a general automotive certification whereas Factory Master status implies specialization in a very specific line of automobiles. Usually, this means far more training and knowledge about what you are working on. It looks like your husband has more than a great start. I highly recommend to either find an outstanding independent shop, a reputable dealership or possibly a state automotive technician job.
The top pay in my area is about 25-30 dollars per hour ( flat rate )
