Help with cutting torches?
This will be my last question about this for a while now I promise!
OK so have worked out from other questions I asked that to cut tin cans I will need a cutting torch. I'd need it to be like a micro one for doing fairly intricate patterns etc.
Can anyone recommend/link me to a good but cheap one?
Also, do they pretty much all require you to have a gas cylinder? And if so, are they easy to get hold of?
Thanks again!
Don't know who told you to get a cutting torch, for tin cans that's excessive.not only that the need two gas cylinders, one acetylene or maap and one oxygen.and for cutting these micro torches really eat the gas.Never timed it but my small set probably gets maybe 20-30 Min's cutting and that uses about £30 of ox,not cheap.Great for small welding.not for cutting.Only one I know off is the Rothenberg roxy, runs about £150-200.I'd rethink your plan.Ive cut cans with everything fron hacksaws to tinsnips.oxy/acc is not neat or accurate, just easy.repost with more detail.:::Back again having found you'r posts and links.I'd say they were cut using a combination of hand tools.heat may have helped, steel get hard as u work it and heat anneals it to soft.for eg,I'd drill a hole top and bottom of the slot to be,and cut the sides with a dremmel, finishing with hand files.Got to say, nice work, very skilled.not easy.
