Toshiba Laptop With 10 Minute Battery Charging
On Sept 2008, Toshiba showed off a prototype SCiB battery installed in a Dynabook laptop in Japan and today it seems that the detail spec for a real mobile computer has been come out finally and will be obtainable inside the market soon.
The new upcoming sleek 13" laptop includes a 2nd SCiB (Super Charged ion Battery) power source that may be charged up to 90% in just 10 minutes. Offered in Core i3, i5, or i7-620 configurations with 4GB of memory, 500GB tough disk or optional 512GB SSD. No further info regarding pricing and availability yet.
SCiB is really a breakthrough rechargeable battery that offers 5 Major Characteristics which includes 1)outstanding safety, 2)superb long cycle life , 3)rapid recharging characteristics & 4)high power output performance, and 5)good cryogenic operation.
The new lithium-ion technology features include a high level of safety, long life of about 5000-600 charge cycles, while there is only 500 cycles for standard lion batteries.(For average users, this means that you can use the battery for about 10 years before it dies.)
What is more, SCiB are also safer and will not explode when crushed, as lithium batteries may. It has a framework that ensures an extremely low incidence of internal short circuits. A high level of safety in preventing thermal runaway is assured regardless if an internal short circuit is forced.
Anybody that has a car battery go in the middle of winter knows that batteries are affected by temperature, especially in cold winter. Interestingly, Toshiba's new battery SCiB works well in temperature extremes, with sufficient discharge at temperature ranges as low as -30°C(minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit). This feature also ensures broad application in cold climates. If this battery lives up to the exciting potential, Toshiba will rapidly end up everybody's favorite battery of choice. The new Toshiba battery technology is too good to be true. We just can't wait to see it in our next mobile computer, cell phone and car.

It`s driving me potty can i stop the smoke alarm from bleeping every minute, is it battery warning?
It is upstairs on the landing. I can`t reach it. i can`t climb up in case I fall and break my neck. Will it do any harm if I ignore it until my husband gets home tonight to sort it. It bleeps every minute. Will it wear itself out. please advise I know It sounds silly but I am serious good job it is away upstairs.It`s like " Ve hav vays of making you talk"
Yes it's fine to leave it, it's just warning you that the battery is low.
Our smoke alarm battery decided it was going to run low at 3o'clock in the morning once!!!! I tried ignoring it, but a bleep every 45 seconds or whatever when trying to sleep in the dead of the night just drove me bloody nuts!! But thankfully ours is easily accessible with the use of a footstool!! .....But it meant me having to go downstairs, find a new battery to put in it, plus put a new battery in the one downstairs cos that was changed at the same time and it'd be sods law that as soon as i went back to bed that one would start bleeping if i hadn't changed it! ...and i couldn't just take the batteries out and leave them cos it would have been sods law that that'd be the night we get a fire!!!!
