Something About a Solenoid Control Valve
Referring to the literal meaning of a solenoid control valve, the core part of this mechanism would be the solenoid. And it is true that the solenoid actuator control the valve to regulate certain fluids or gases. The electrical current through a solenoid signifies a lot. Thus, this mechanism can be classified into the electromagnetic valves.
Considering about the suitable media, a great variety is available, especially for the fluids. In most cases, a solenoid control valve is designed and applied into releasing, distributing or mixing different fluids. In fact, it is expected that this mechanism would turn the electrical energy into mechanical energy. Then, it is possible for the relative valve open and control mechanically. Just considering about the ability to convert, the metal seal is resulted to be more popular and functional. Besides, it should be mentioned that a spring is used to hold the valve open or closed under the inactivated condition.
In the following, a simple and clear introduction to the operation of most solenoid control valves is given. At the beginning, the mechanism is placed in a closed state. The required fluid begins to enter an elastic diaphragm. The power caused by the flow of water would push the elastic diaphragm down. In fact, there is a pinhole in the centre of the diaphragm, which allows the fluid to go through. Once the pressure on both sides is the same, the force would, more or less, higher on the upper side. Therefore, such force is gained to shut off the incoming pressure, leading to the shut off of any water flow. At this moment, the significant solenoid coil would take effects. Once activated, the pin would be forced upside. Then, the required water flows through the conduit, go on to flow onto the output side of the valve. Eventually, the gained pressure pushes to drop and lift the diaphragm's main valve to let the flow go through. It is indeed the complete process of the entire operation. Most importantly, this process is rather environmentally undertaken. In words, all valves are doing their best to the development of both industry and society.

I have a 49 Chevy truck/216 eng. Valve job done. Now I get oil/water mixing. Head or block cracked? Help!?
this motor is whats called stove bolt motors and was a really good motor for there day.
when you had the valve job done did you have it magna-fluxed? if you didn't get it done!!!
the head gaskets are alittle tricky to install in this motor as they used copper gaskets, and i am willing to bet that the head gasket is leaking.
when i install copper gaskets i use a copper gasket spray on both sides and let it dry before putting it on, and when lowering the head on to the motor make sure it goes down slow and easy not to damage the copper gasket, and when you torque the head down you HAVE TO torque it starting from the center working your way out in an x pattern from one side to the other from front to back evenly, and DO NOT torque it to its full torque on your first time around, with out getting my book out and seeing just what the torque setting is for your motor, but if i remember right your torque setting should be about 95ft/lbs, on your first time around torque them down starting from the center out in an x pattern from front to back to 45ft/lbs then again to 65ft/lbs then again to 95ft/lbs, then go back over them again at 95ft/lbs.
and before you even put the bolts in look at them close to make sure theres no stretching of the bolts, and with the stove bolt motors NEVER reuse the head bolt washers use new ones with a little oil on the washers when in stalling them, and again with the stove bolt motor use a small dab of blue lock tite on the bolts as the stove bolt motors had a problem with backing out.
and we have found that on stove bolt motors to start the motor the first time with out coolet in them and let it run for ONLY 2 to 3min, then let it cool down completely, then fill with coolet and start it up again and let run tell it gets to temp and again let cool down, then check everything out
