Why is it NOT recommended to connect a hard drive and optical drive (CD,DVD drive) through the same IDE port?
I have a socket AM2 motherboard, and I noticed that a lot of modern motherboards are coming out with only 1 IDE connection. Mine only has 1 IDE connector on it, and I read that it is NOT advised that you connect an optical drive and hard drive through the same IDE channel. My motherboard has 4 SATA connectors on it. Granted, I know that there are modern hard drives that uttilize this connection, but in regards to the ATA (or IDE) hard drives, why is it NOT recommended that you use the same IDE port for the 2 devices?
PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION WITH A RESPONSE THAT IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!!! DO NOT TELL ME "JUST GET A S.A.T.A. HARD DRIVE" OR "GET A NEW MOTHERBOARD". THE QUESTION IS STRAIGHT FORWARD AND WELL THOUGHT OUT, AS I WOULD LIKE TO RESPONSE TO BE.
