Samsung Updates Syncmaster Monitor Range: 2233HZ and 2243HZ
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today unveiled a new technology designed to produce clearer images that make it most suitable for game and video playing. It also unveiled two new monitors equipped with the technology.
The technology called "Enhanced MPA" has been developed to reduce
ghosting effects, which are seen as weak points of LCD monitors. Based
on the existing Motion Picture Accelerator (MPA), this new technology
opens a new chapter in improving the image quality of LCD monitors.
Thanks to the technology, the Motion Picture Response Time (MPRT) of
the two monitors (SyncMaster 2233HZ, SyncMaster 2243HZ) has been
reduced from 27 ms to 9 ms, making them most suitable for game and
video playing.
Yongjin Park, Vice President of Samsung Visual Display Division said,
Samsung hopes to show its outstanding technological capability via
innovative products equipped with enhanced MPA technology.
"I believe that the new products and technology will boost Samsung
monitors' status as a technology and design leader," Mr. Park added.
In addition, the two monitors support a high resolution of 1680*1050
and a dynamic contrast ratio of 30,000:1. Also, their designs match
with both B2B and B2C market demands, allowing consumers to choose
their desired design depending on user environment.
Samsung believes these new monitors will satisfy high-end users such
as professional gamers as well as general users who want to enjoy
multimedia contents to its full extent.
In particular, the company will expand its share in the B2B LCD
monitor market with these products by introducing them to those areas
where CRT monitors are still in use because of ghosting effects, such
as airport security.

The 2233Hz (pictured) and the 2243Hz (after the break) SyncMaster desktop LCDs share a screen size, 1680 x 1050 resolutions, 300 nits of brightness and 5ms typical response times. Both displays also feature Samsung's new Enhanced MPAII to drop Motion Picture Response time from 27ms to a mere 9ms, which should give ghosting-phobics some relief. Sadly, there's no mention of DisplayLink, but of course there are DVI plugs with HDCP. The only differences we can find between the displays is four USB plugs (instead of two) on the 2243Hz, plus MagicRotation for pivoting the display

Refresh Rate when playing games on LCD monitor on PS3?
I have an HDMI cable from my 22' monitor to my ps3. It supports up to 1080p. What I've noticed though, is in games with a lot of motion i used the wheelman demo to test, the buildings and part of the street are all blurry and off. My current refresh rate is 60hz, and I'm sure it can go higher. If i make it higher will it fix this problem?
I don't think it will help. I found this info on tech support for LCD Monitor.
"Since LCD monitors do not employ phosphors, refresh rate is not a concern. Basically, the transistors in the LCD remain open or closed as needed until the image changes. This can be a point of confusion for some consumers, however, since most graphics cards still "ask for" a refresh rate setting. This is due to the analog nature of existing graphic cards (see "Inputs" section) and their support for CRT displays. While refresh rates do not apply to LCD monitors, most LCDs are set up to accept any settings from 60Hz and above. "
