3 Phase power return wire?
Can anyone explain to me how 3 phase electricity is connected, I mean on some diagrams I have seen there are no neutral/return wires for the electricity to flow. How does the current flow if there is no return path for the current?
Could someone explains in laymen's terms for me how 3 phase power is wired up in terms of how the current gets "returned" to the source.

In a balanced 3 phase load like an electric motor, there is no net current in the neutral wire, so it can be eliminated entirely. The return is via the other 2 phase actives, due to the phasing of the 3 (120 degrees). There will always be one of them with current flow "reversed" relative to the one under consideration.
It is only when e.g. the 3 phase is split into 3 x single phase circuits, that a neutral return wire connection is made.
