Quick DIY Car Body Work You Can Do In Your Own Garage

A small dent in your car is usually left ignored by the owner since it may seem like a minor problem, but left overtime that dent may become more obvious because of rust. At that point or even before, taking the car to a body shop for repair can be very costly. Fixing the body of a car for minor dents can be a do-it-yourself project that will take no more than a day and will not cost more than the money used to buy the tools and materials needed for the job.

Tools and materials

Dent puller

Sand paper

Body putty

Wire

Masking tape

Primer

Urethane based color paint

Spray gun

Clear paint for coating

Instructions

1.  A dent puller can be bought online or from television infomercials advertising smaller versions to what are used by professional car repairers. They are inexpensive and a handy tool to have around. Use the dent puller to remove the dent and follow the manufacturer's instructions for the best results.

2.  If the paint on the car has rusted or needs to be redone then sand the necessary area.

3.  After the area has been sanded, ensure to remove all the dust and use the wire to ground the car by attaching one end of the wire to frame underneath the car and the other to a grounded source. This will cause the car not to attract dust by removal of the static charge.

4.  Place masking tape over areas that will not be repaired and use the body putty to fill uneven areas and use the sand paper once again to even this out.

5.  Apply the primer by using the spray gun and let dry for 20 minutes. Sand the area once again after the primer has dried to ensure that the surface is as smooth as possible.

6.  Using the same spray gun apply the urethane based color paint and let dry for 40 minutes. Apply a second coat of paint allowing this coat to dry for 2 hours.

7.  When the color coat has completely dried apply 3 coats of clear paint, waiting 40 minutes for the application of each coat.

Body work on a car sometimes needs a professional if the damages are severe and will prove too difficult to remove the dents by yourself. If however the damage is minor, a fun DIY project awaits. Don't waste unnecessary money at body shops on minor repairs.

I have shampoo and whitener on there already!
I have that other stuff like hay and such in another question. This is ONLY about grooming.

His water bucket (he will get thirsty) and if he's finicky, fill one of those collapsible 5-gallon water carriers (available at sporting/camping goods stores) with water from your barn. (Some horses won't drink "strange" water.) If you plan to be there all day long, bring a flake or two of hay for him to munch on; it will alleviate boredom and keep him calm. I am assuming you won't be away overnight, but if you ever are, also remember to bring his feed tub and grain, as well as bedding. (Shavings can be purchased in 3' cube bags.)

Good luck! Let us know how you do!
