i have connected the ADSL modem (Dynalink Modem/Router RTA 1320), to the WAN port of the Asus wireless router WL520 but i am unable to connect to the internet. all the settings are default - easy set up.
the broadband connection is Telstra PDQ.
what other set up do i have to do?
The Asus router must be apart of the same network as the Dynalink Modem. You must change the Ip of the Asus router from its reserved i.e. 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 to be in the same range as the Dynalink. For example if your Dynalink Gateway IP is: 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0; the Asus router should be changed to 192.168.1.50 255.255.255.0. Also the Asus router should be connected to the Dynalink via the internal switch not the WAN port and you should use a crossover cable. The DHCP sever in the ASUS must be turned off. The Dynalink should have the connection info to talk to the ISP. Set the Asus for "Dynamic" to accept IPs from the Dynalink. Contact your ISP to insure your IP and subnets are correct --if on static IP and insure you have the right numbers in place for your DNS.
