Conversing Several Of The Basics Of Outlet Wiring

Outlet wiring is a simple and straightforward job if you know what you are doing. To get in to this job, you should have a minimal knowledge, at least. If you attempt to do outlet wiring without having this fundamental knowledge, you are on your way to do a life threatening damage. To give you a brief introduction about outlet wiring, let's discuss some of the basics involved in the whole project.

First of all, you should be able to recognize the wires. Ordinarily there are two to three wires in an outlet. One wire gets the electrical energy to the outlet and this wire is Normally colored in red or brown (live wire). The wire takes the electrical energy away from the outlet is colored in blue or black and it is also called neutral wire.

The color systems Normally vary depending on the country you live in. But as a rule of thumb, more bright wire is the live wire and the dark, dull wire is the neutral wire. Only two wires are available in an outlet for some countries. In others, you find 3 wires. The additional wire is the earth (ground) wire, Normally colored in green, yellow, or mix of green and yellow.

Switching off the main power line is the first step before attempting to do anything with outlet wiring. This can be done in two levels; either through the fuse or trip which is correspondent to the outlet or over the main power switch. The last mentioned might be inconvenient for you as you will not have electricity to the whole house during the period of outlet wiring. Regardless of which method you use, make sure not one switch them back on mistakenly as you will be shocked by electricity instantly if you happen to engage in outlet wiring.

You will require a few of equipments for a successful outlet wiring. First of all, you will require a razor knife for peeling the wires. the wires should be stripped carefully without causing damages and all the wires should be stripped at the same length. When you cut the wires, make sure that you keep about 5-6 inches as advantage in case if your stripping goes wrong. When stripping the wires, make sure that you do not damage them as damaged wires tend to cause shorts once outlet wiring is finished.

There are marks in the outlet indicating the proper wires.. Use a acceptable screwdriver to attach the wires to respective screws and then screw the outlet to the wall socket. Now, you are done with outlet wiring.

I can't attach my power wire to my side post battrey?

I have this lug that you are suppose to attach to a side post battery. But i can get the old one to come off the cable. If any one no how could you please tell me how?

If you are talking about using something similar to this http://www.liteminder.com/bolt.html the stock bolt simply pops out past the plastic terminal cover. Sometimes it helps to heat up the plastic slightly with a hair dryer or a heat gun to make it more pliable then pull and twist the bolt through with a pair of pliers.
