The switch is hard to switch on and off. Can this be a potential fire hazard?
Probably not. but don't take any chances. If it's not a twisting type switch have it replaced. It's probably an old spring switch. The new ones are mercury switches and are easy to through on and off. You can tell if it's a 3way switch if it doesn't have the word's on and off on it. If your not comfortable changing it out yourself, find a good handyman to do so. Be safe turn off the power if you do it your self. If your wiring is older call an electrician.
