If my thermostat is broken on my truck should I be able to get heat in the cab.?
I have a 98 dakota sport 3.9. I've got a supercharger, lowering kit, rims etc...... I don't have heat. Would my thermostat being broken result in me having no heat.
Is the engine temperature up to normal? if so it isn't the thermostat. If it isn't up to its usual temperature then it is likely the t-stat. If the temperature fluctuates or goes higher than normal it is either low on antifreeze or the antifreeze mixture isn't correct and may be freezing up or slushing. If it is low check for leaks and repair any that you find, if it at any-time overheated then replace the thermostat as well. Is the truck running normal? You may have an internal antifreeze leak or a cylinder leaking compression into the cooling system. If the temp is normal and the antifreeze is full then take a look at the heater core, you may need to back flush it. There are many causes for no heat and you have to keep looking until you find it.
