forgot how to remove drill chuck?
I have a 9.6 volt dewalt drill and I want to do some maint on it but it has been so long since I have removed the chuck what do I do after I remove the screw?
Start by opening the chuch up to its largest opening. Look inside for the srew that holds the chuck in place. Is it a flat blade screw or an allenhead? Find an appropriate tool to engage the screw. Then remove the center screw keeping in mind it is a left hand thread. If the chuck seems a bit stubburn in coming off, try tightening the short end of a 3/8 allen wrench into the jaws of the chuck and giving the long end a not so gentle tap with a hammer while FIRMLY holding the drill with the other hand.
