6 Tips To Boost eBay Selling and How To Find Cheap Wholesales
Tip 1
Many people getting into eBay are tormented by this question, and so I want to put it to rest: Is a specific license or permit required to drop ship products sold in eBay auctions? No, absolutely not! There is no special permit that applies specifically to drop shipping whether you sell online on eBay or on your website or offline. For most mom and pop eBay businesses, the sales tax permit will be all you need. As mentioned above, you probably won't need an EIN unless you have employees, establish a corporation, or pay wages. If you are running your eBay business from your kitchen or home office and keeping your products at home or using drop shipping, it is very unlikely that any other licensing will apply to you. Nevertheless, I advise checking with your local officials and would go so far as to suggest a consultation with a business attorney.
Tip 2
Before selling anything on eBay it is important to study the additional eBay costs so that you'll know how much you need to make to make a profit. Some of the extra costs include: (1) listing fees, (2) final value fees, (3) image hosting fees (can be optional),(4) fees for extras such as bold type, extra space for your listing, larger picture size (optional), (5) "Buy it Now" fees (optional), (6) fixed price fees (optional), (7) PayPal or other payment processor fees.
Tip 3
The fact of the matter is that on eBay you can sell virtually any product. And although you could probably find someone who would buy your fingernails, that's not really the issue. You don't want to sell just any product; you want to sell what you can consistently earn a profit. Many people starting out on eBay want to sell cool items such as DVDs or the latest electronic gadget, but this is not generally the best way to break into eBay if you are starting from scratch.
Tip 4
The two problems that most new comers face are how to find products and then finding reliable suppliers. Neither one of these is particularly difficult, though both can seem insurmountable. Believe it or not, the first step to solving these problems lies in your business plan. Who are your customers? What niche are you satisfying? What sort of business model is right for you? It isn't enough just to think of a product. You arrive at your product by starting with a customer need or problem. You must start with a business plan, and a business plan will start with your customers. Believe it or not, when you start answering these sorts of questions, your questions about where your products will come from will begin to fall into place. Tip 5
It is vital to understand that the purchase of goods from a licensed wholesaler also requires a sales tax permit. Even if you don't sell products to residents of your state, if you plan on using true wholesalers, your permit allows you legal right to buy wholesale products without paying sales tax. Wholesalers, in turn, are required by the terms of their license to have on file proof of your sales tax permit. Keep in mind that if a business does not demand your tax permit, it is not a true wholesaler. If you are a new eBay seller, you need to be aware of the kind of product supplier you are doing business with. Your supplier should be open about their business and inform you up front if they are a wholesaler or some other kind of product supplier. Your job as a retailer will include charging sales the tax to those buyers who are residents of your state and then to pay it back to your state treasury department at tax designated tax times. Right now, the issue of how to handle sales taxes when selling to residents of other states is an open question
Tip 6
One key factor that will contribute to the success of your ecommerce, home business site is traffic. Product sourcing alone is not enough. Although there are numerous ways to develop a flow of traffic, if you cannot get potential customers interested in your products to your site, you will not make money. In other words you need targeted traffic. Possibly the most economical traffic development tool at your disposal is the search engines–Google, Yahoo!, and Bing, to name the big three. I'm not suggesting that the search engines be your only strategy for bringing people to your site, but with proper consideration, the search engines can be harnessed to work very well in your favor.

ebay online business?
ok i was wondering what i know ebay is a great site to salethings on but if i want to go full timw with this what whosale website are out there that are good that help you get stuff on ebay what sales what dont
ok it looks like the problem alot of people are having here is that they arent buying at true wholesale price. all these websites claiming to sell wholesale are mainly fake. the main reason i say that is because they claim to offer a list or products without asking for your tax id. any place that doesnt ask for a tax id IS NOT selling things to you wholesale I REPEAT NOT SELLING WHOLESALE. a wholesale office risks losing their business license if they sale to someone without a tax id. a respectable business isnt gonna risk that so odds are if you are dealing with someone offering wholesale for a membership fee and without a tax id is a fraud.

most people arent gonna tell you exactly what to sell because of the simple fact that if they knew they would be selling it making money. i have an idea of something to sell but like i said if i tell you then im creating more competition therefore hurting my future business.
your best bet is to decide what product you want to sell, lets say an ipod. then contact the manufacturer, apple. call the manufacturer and ask if you can buy things wholesale from them, most likely they'll say no, then ask them how to contact their wholesaler. contact the wholesaler and then see about creating an account and buying wholesale. like i said earlier be prepared to give them your tax id. i just got finished calling a wholesaler yesterday and they wouldnt even give me a quote for the product prices without having my tax id
but as for advice for you finding something to sell
1)sell something that people want but something that not too many other people are selling, for instance people like lcd tvs but everyone on ebay is selling it so the market is flooded. if the market is flooded it'll be hard for you to break into the market and sell your product
2)try to sell something you know alot about and like. having more pride and knowledge in your product will help you advertise and sell it and answer questions people have about it
3)if you find something people like buy that in bulk from a wholesale store. the more quantity you buy the cheaper the price will be per unit. the cheaper price per unit the more profit you can make. but be careful because if you buy a lot of a product that doesnt sell then you'll be stuck with it suffering a bigger lose.
4)when you have an idea of what product to sell see how much other people are selling it for on ebay or in a regular store. then talk the the wholesaler and calculate how much of the product you would have to buy to sell it for as much or less than the other sellers and still make a profit(remember the more you buy the cheaper the product will be for you).
5)remember when making a profit you have look at how much the product cost you, the fees that ebay is charging you insertion and closing(at the very least, theres also buy now fees, fees for more pictures, fees for bold headings etc...), paypal fees(if you choose to accept pay pal), shipping and handling(how much it cost to ship the product and the material to package it) after all those expenses that will be your profit.
remember starting off your profit most likely wont be huge and you'll have to constantly change your business model to account for more competition, change in shipping prices, increase ebay fees, etc.... also if you are serious about starting an ebay business dont just pocket all the profit. you should award yourself a salary and the other money you save in case your business suffers a dry period, or to add more products to your store
